Marrero Fuerte Cigar Review

In an industry where the location of your tobacco crop is key to mastering the perfect taste and appearance, Marrero Cigars has looked to Costa Rica to be its driving force. Marrero Cigars is a boutique cigar company based in the Tampa Bay area who have been blowing up by the minute.

Being a resident of the Tampa Bay, I can honestly say it is truly amazing to see how fast their company profile has grown, and how many local cigar shops now carry the Marrero catalog. I have smoked and enjoyed all of the Marrero Cigars and one of the things you should know is that I love a good medium to full-bodied cigar. Some of the highest regarded cigars in the world fall into the medium to full-bodied category.  Well that is exactly what the Marrero Fuerte is… a damn good medium to full-bodied cigar.

The Marrero Fuerte is made up of an Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper, Ecuadorian binder and Costa Rican filler.

The cost of the Marrero Fuerte is just under $8, which it is a HUGE value for the price. You could put a $10 price tag on this stogie and I would still purchase it. The cheaper amount only means it will be more fiscally available to all types of smokers. Regardless of price, this is a stogie cigar lovers will enjoy.

At first glance the art on the band isn’t anything to go crazy about, and it will not jump out at you visually. However, the proof is in the pudding. When you spark the Marrero Fuerte you can taste its great quality.

When I retrohale (pre-puff) the Marrero Fuerte I get hints of grass, wood and roasted nut. When I lightly toast the end of the cigar and begin to puff away I get notes of grass, salted earth, cashew, and light pepper. The box pressed mouth feel is always a fitting plus to a premium cigar. The box-press feature of the cigar is comfortable and enhances the overall experience of the Marrero Fuerte.

The Marrero Fuerte’s burn is balanced and gives off grey/white ash; displaying a well-crafted cigar. The draw is perfect. Little to no effort is needed to pull the delicious smoke from the great cigar.

Costa Rican blended cigars are not extremely common in the industry but I have to honestly say that I will be looking for more of them to come based on the quality and performance of the Marrero Fuerte. Find it, buy it and try it. It is worth every penny!
